Dr. Maria Al-Basha

Dr. Maria Al-Basha has been helping people achieve lasting skin health and beauty for more than 30 years. As a board-certified Dermatologist, she is an expert in all diseases of the skin, hair, and nails and is equally skilled in cosmetic procedures. Dr. Al-Basha doesn’t just stop at treating your skin condition but also offers invaluable advice about nutrition for healthy skin, over the counter skin remedies, md-approved cosmeceutical skin care regimens, and any option that can be taken to prevent future problems with your skin, hair, and nails. Dr. Maria has three daughters, Amira (our Physician Assistant whom she works alongside), Nisreen, and Lamise, as well as three grandsons. When she is not treating patients she loves to spend time outdoors gardening, in the kitchen cooking her mother's recipes, playing with her grandchildren, or snuggling her cats. Her father was a general practitioner, sparking her love for helping people in the medical setting. She has been a Rockford resident since 1989, and has been treating patients in the Edgebrook center since 1997. Dr. Al-Basha has been voted Rockford’s #1 Dermatologist every year since 2015!

Amira Al-Basha, PA-C

Amira received a business degree from UIUC followed by her Physician Assistant Master's degree at Dominican University near Chicago. She has worked at Edgebrook Dermatology as a PA since 2019, but for several years before that as a medical assistant and laser technician in our office. Not only does she perform medical and cosmetic treatments and care, but she has tried many of them herself. She has received regular Botox since the age of 24, lip filler, hair reduction, and the occasional IPL. Amira lives on a farm with her husband, and her three sons. They have many animals including horses, donkeys, sheep, peacocks, chickens, dogs & cats. Being outdoorsy by nature, her family likes to spend time on the farm hosting barbecues almost every weekend in the summer and going on many hikes with the kids and dogs. “While all our treatments are amazing, I like Botox and Liquid Nitrogen treatments the best. The former makes people feel so confident and look relaxed while the latter fixes a whole host of medical and cosmetic issues before they become bigger problems.”

Katie Rose, PA-C

Katie Rose earned her education through the University of Iowa where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Physiology, followed by her Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Des Moines University. Katie joined our team at the beginning of 2022, as it has always been a goal of hers to work in dermatology and care for patients with skin concerns, while being able to perform a variety of surgical and cosmetic procedures. Katie enjoys spending time with her family, including her twin nephews, and got married in October of 2021. "My favorite part about working at Edgebrook Dermatology is working alongside such friendly, experienced, and knowledgeable staff that help each other learn and grow everyday!"

Carla Solomon, PA-C

Carla received her Physician Assistant education through Midwest University. She began her PA journey in Minnesota and even spent some time studying dietics. Carla found that she had a passion specifically for dermatology and wanted to help people feel better about the skin they're in, so she joined our team at the jump of 2023! She has a Cairn Terrier (the same as the dog from Wizard of Oz!) named Bristol and loves to travel, paint canvases, try new foods, and drive. When the weather is nice, she enjoys taking her 6-speed BRZ for a spin, but she has the taste for drinking iced coffee year-round. "The staff (at Edgebrook Dermatology) is always willing to help each other and always focused on what's best for the patient. I love our family atmosphere."
